I have seen so many different opinions on this subject that I thought I would write a blog about it. Here is my perspective on this subject as a professional psychic and medium.
This article does not pertain to “psychics” or “mediums” who are scam artists, feeding off others fears, insecurities or grief for financial gain. People like that give genuine, sincere psychics and mediums like me and others a very bad rap. Like all professions there are unscrupulous individuals who do not respect other people or themselves.
I started doing psychic/medium reading for others for free or barter like many other reputable psychics today, probably much longer than I should have. I will tell you why I say “longer than I should have”; once I started getting the messages from my Spirit Guides that it was an enormous positive energy exchange and that someone needs to give something of real value to them to get something of real value, I simply ignored it.
What happened next was not really shocking but an eye-opener for me.
I noticed clearly when I started doing free readings, that while all responded very positively to my readings some didn’t move forward with the messages and guidance that they knew was real. I started getting taken advantage of by some. I soon after cleared out any negativity and started charging a little money, then over time moved my reading prices to what they are now.
I starting charging money for my services not because of lost “friendships,” but because it was all true: in our society money has great value and to be taken seriously I needed to charge enough money so my clients got the most out of their reading for their benefit.
The client makes a conscious choice to make not only a financial investment, but also an empowering emotional and mental investment in themselves to change their lives, thus the reading has great value to them.
Some people, even a few psychics say it’s a gift and you should do it for free because it’s all about goodness and Spirituality. I agree 100% in regards to it being about goodness and Spirituality, but only you can set your own value and worth.
If you come from a place of “sacrifice for others at all costs, even to me,” then that’s a choice and mentality you are free to live with. Even Ministers, Pastors, Priests, etc., get paid for their Spiritual services. If you the negative energies of victimhood or obligation to make your decisions from then you alone make that choice daily. Choosing to be disempowered and not honoring yourself does not help you or anyone you want to help.
A vast majority of people today offer many different professional services for payment to clients so why wouldn't honest psychics and mediums wouldn’t be afforded the same right?
If you don't believe in psychics or mediums, or don't feel you should have to pay, then you can choose not to get a reading with a psychic. That would be just like you not paying for any professional service you don't like or want to pay for.
A very valid reason psychics do charge money for their services is because it’s not free to live in our society. I have a reasonably-priced office, plus monthly bills and a teenager to care for like everyone else. There would be no way to do what I do full-time and not charge for my professional services.
Yet if a psychic or healer charges a huge amount of money (like $300/hour and more) and/or tries to get you to hand over your life savings by working with them on an almost daily basis for a few months, please refuse their services.
I have clients who have been scammed by better known psychics and healers who drained their entire bank accounts and rejected them when the money ran out. A psychic or healer will try to convince you that they are so special no one can do what they do, that you cannot live without their services or them, and all of that's a lie. This really happens.
If you're looking for a bargain rate psychic, the reading may reflect that you're getting what you pay for... very little.
I set my reading prices to be comparable to other sincere, genuine psychics and mediums in the United States who are on the same psychic ability and professional level as I am. Some who are on my level charge way more than I do, as is their right and choice to do so.
The actual value of a reading with me is not set by my prices, my office or any accolades I may get after, but the value and worth my clients get out of it.
Did the reading really resonate with my client? Did they get their questions answered in a way they could understand and actually help them?
I’m not ever going to tell a client what I think they want they want to hear for a Band-Aid solution, or to make them feel better in the moment. I'm the messenger of the intuitive guidance only; it would be highly unethical to change what they tell me. I give you the actual answers and guidance I get from your Spirit Guides in a caring, honest and straightforward manner.
It’s not your Spirit Guides or anyone else’s job or responsibility to live your life for you, or do your work for you. Our ‘free will,’ our ability to make our own decisions and direct our own life as a unique Soul trumps all. It’s your beautiful journey so own and cherish it.
Like all things in life you get what you pay for. Carefully choose a professional psychic or medium that you connect with that will give you the most value, honesty and real intuitive guidance for your monetary investment in yourself.
